Merck’s position as the sole provider of an oral antidiabetic drug in the novel dipeptidyl peptidase 4 (DPP 4) inhibitor class is under challenge as at least three companies – Novartis, Takeda and Bristol-Myers Squibb - enter the final stretch of the development process. Madison, N.J., July 19, 2007 - Wyeth (NYSE: WYE) today reported results for the 2007 second quarter and first half ending June 30, 2007. Worldwide net revenue increased 10% to $5.6 billion for the 2007 second quarter and 10% to $11.0 billion for the 2007 first half. Excluding the favorable impact of foreign exchange, worldwide net revenue increased 7% for the 2007 second quarter and 8% for the 2007 first half.
